Still Life
1997
I shot this series at several hotels at night in Miami, when all the pool visitors were long gone.
I noticed that all these pools without their visitors seemed strange and surreal, as if the soul had left the place only hours before.
The very long exposure time that is used really adds to this surrealistic feel of the images. The prints back then were all hand printed, so together with the printer we created these beautiful strange color combination to add to the mystery feel.
This series won the Silver PANL award in 2004.
