Black Water
1999
Whilst on holiday in Bali I noticed my surroundings creating beautiful shadows. When I passed this open door on the street I immediately envisioned a person walking on a diving board with the shadow forming the water.
This inspired me to look for several spots and shadows that would create the optical illusion of water.
Back home I shot the model, posing as a swimmer, in my studio exactly how I had it in my mind during my trip.
This work has won the PANL Members Choice Award.
